our philosophy
We are Axis Maps. We developed indiemapper because we were frustrated with the current mapping tools. We wanted to create faster, easier and better looking map-making tools that bring the best of traditional cartographic design to the 21st century mapping workflow.

Whether your data comes as a shapefile, KML or GPX (from a GPS unit), with indiemapper, you can turn your digital geographic data into beautiful maps faster and easier than ever before. If you don't have data or need it to supplement a map, indiemapper comes pre-seeded with the best data from Natural Earth to get you started quickly. We've also pre-styled some of this data and stocked the Vector Map library with a variety of world reference maps.
Map projections
Projecting the round earth into a flat map is a critical step in the map-making process. Unfortunately, this step is confusing or entirely overlooked by current online mapping services (and their maps are weak as a result). Indiemapper offers you most major map projections and expert advice on how and why to use them, so you always make the right choice.
